WRET, as a responsible tourism company …
World Records Expedition and Treks (WRET) Pvt. Ltd. is privately owned government registered Tourism Company established on 2002 under the Company Registrar Act and licenced from Tourism Industries Division of Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (GoN). WRET since its establishment has been putting high effort to established quality tourism in Nepal applying the ethical business practices. WRET after the few years of its establishment; have been involving into the responsible tourism initiative and changing its business practices for the community development as well. WRET has very strong business management team and providing extensive support to the community people as well as other tourism entrepreneurs and employee of the sector for applying responsible tourism initiative. WRET furthermore, providing training and other policy advocacy facilitation to the different cluster of the tourism to create the sound and qualitative business environment in the country. Since WRET's had got chance to send its Chief Executive Officer/Director to the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN); an umbrella organization of entire trekking companies of Nepal, as a Second Vice President and then First Vice President, can get further opportunities to promote and advocate the ethical business practices in Nepalese tourism industry. During the working period in TAAN, WRET Representative played vital role to drafting of Code of Conduct of Adventure Mountain Tourism for the Trekking Companies and further more Responsible Tourism Guideline. In the mean time, we have also played vital role to do the policy advocacy with government for the better tourism policy, act and regulation. So, WRET management has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of responsible tourism for developing quality tourism in Nepal.
Based on the responsible tourism practices in Nepal, WRET is involving into the socially responsible business practices and applying the basic guidelines. WRET is providing contribution to the community in different areas, more concern with nature conservation, rights & interest, and fair wages of its employees, better business relationship with its suppliers and stakeholders. WRET is more concerned in obligation towards the state in terms of tax and earning of foreign currency from the business.
Mr. Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa, Chairman of WRET who had established world record on Mt. Everest for fastest climber of 10 hours 56 minutes and 45 second on 2003 and WRET established on 2004; we tried to merge the business and social realm for the better business situation in Nepal. Considering the fact of Lhakpa's world record holder and his goals behind that mission, Lhakpa and Team has decided to establish separate developmental organization named Lhakpa Gelu Mountain Foundation (LGMF). The main objective of this foundation is to provide educational support to needy children from different communities of Nepal. We the WRET management has decided to provide fund contribution to this foundation for "Social Cause" from its business activities. We are committed to provide US$ 100 per client from its every 8000 m. high mountain expedition and US$ 10 per client from every trekking trip and peak climbing and the foundation will provide the education support to the children from needy community.
Besides these, WRET is highly concerned with quality service and destination management for its clients and customer. Not only focus on profit from the business, we simply pay attention to our clients, employees, nature, communities and stakeholders; where we are working and perform the business activities locally.
